Yield control is the foundation of the classification system in the Eger wine region. Under the brand name Egri Bikavér only dry red wine with PDO can be marketed. Bikavér is the world-famous wine of the region; a blend of at least 4 different red base wines, with Kékfrankos forming the backbone of 35-60%. There are 3 quality levels: classicus (max. yield 100 hl/ha), superior (max. yield 60 hl/ha) and grand superior (max. yield 35 hl/ha and must be a single vineyard).

- Brief description of viticulture, fermentation, vinification and maturation: A blend of four base wines. The grapes for the base wines were harvested at full ripeness with high must sugar content. Each variety was harvested separately at the right time for the variety. After crushing and destemming, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks for about 20 days. Each base wine was racked into oak barrels of different sizes and aged for 15 months.
